" You are more than what your thoughts say about you," says Joel Martinez who is currently working a new project titled The Book of Joel. With this album, you will be getting an in-depth look at the life of this young man and where his life has taken him.
Born and raised in San Diego, CA in a rough neighborhood, Joel found a love for music at a very young age. From the time he could remember, music has always played a vital part in his life. By the time he got to high school he began creating his own music with his brother and friends working on cheap digital workspaces to now working with major programs such as Pro Tools, Logic and Ableton Live creating top notch pieces of art. After graduating high school, he had a choice to make: pursue the career his parents had set for him, or embark on his own journey. Joel started out on the career path his parents envisioned for him because he didn't want to disappoint them. But quickly realized that was not where his heart was at. Joel decided to pursue his own dreams and aspirations and set out to attend the Los Angeles Film School. After a year at the school, he was faced with a difficult decision to leave school and work. With a heavy heart, Joel left but something was still missing. A few years down the road he was able to finish his schooling and now is pursuing his dream career in the music industry.
Joel has worked on many awesome projects producing for fellow friends and family. As a composer, Joel creates music in many genres including scores for theatrical productions. Currently, Joel is working intensely on producing a new album that is a tribute to all those who have supported his musical journey . It is highly anticipated by his local following and long overdue. With that said, "it is time to come out of my shell," from Joel's interview with a local pastor for an upcoming show.
